Gates & Access
Gates and access are a necessary part of any physical fencing system. When first designing a fencing system, it is important to know what type of property you are designing the fencing for; security, privacy or simply, beautification. Part of the deciding process is choosing what type of perimeter fencing to implement. You need to weigh certain factors such as: risk, cost and security vs. privacy vs. beauty. Gates
Gates come in all shapes and sizes and differ between powered, non-powered, automatic and manual. Gates can be constructed out of any material, used to match existing fencing you may already have or in combination with new fencing that we can proved. Gates provide controlled access points for people or vehicles or animals such as cows and horses. With powered gates, the push of a button will allow the gate to swing open, granting access to the property beyond. With a manual gate, a physical latch will be installed which, when operated by hand, will grant access.
Access
Access, when combined with gates, is usually a reference to a powered solution. Access can be granted, through a gating system by all manners of devices. The most common access control is a “fob”, a small device which, with the press of button, will cause a gate to open (think of it as a garage opener type device). These devices are easy to install and can usually attach to a key ring for easy transport. But we can also install automatic access devices, which emit a laser beam that, when tripped (usually by a vehicle) will cause a gate to either swing or slide open, allowing access to the property without the need for any other device.
Powered vs. Non-powered
Deciding which kind of gate and access system to use is totally up to you. Generally speaking, powered access systems are used in commercial properties where a large number of people and vehicles will be entering and exiting on a daily basis. Non-powered options are generally reserved for residential customers who live in a single family home with limited amounts of people coming and going. But either option can be used in either situation and the decision is yours to make!
Metal, Vinyl or Wood
Material choice is one of the first big decisions to make in dealing with any kind of fencing or gating system. If you already have a fence on your property that you need a gate for, we can find a solution that will look correct and beautiful with your existing system. If we are starting from scratch, choosing which material to use should be based on a few different things: Weather conditions in your area, the security purpose of the gate and wether or not it will be powered or not.
